Description
This package addresses conditions inside distribution boards where neutral terminal bars show terminal overheating, all terminal holes are fully occupied, or multiple conductors are connected to a single terminal causing unreliable connections. The modification involves installing an auxiliary neutral bar adjacent to the original, and using a sufficiently large cross-section jumper conductor to reliably parallel-connect the two bars, thereby splitting the current originally concentrated on a single terminal into two parallel paths. Both ends of the jumper are terminated with copper lugs, bolted with locking compound and standard torque.
After the auxiliary bar is installed, we redistribute conductors from the original overheated or overloaded terminals to the new bar, ensuring that after redistribution, each bar has an equal number of conductors and each terminal accepts only one conductor. We then use a clamp meter to measure the actual running current on each parallel neutral bar, confirming the split ratio meets expectations and neither bar exceeds its rated ampacity. The new auxiliary bar is made of the same copper material to match thermal expansion coefficients and reduce long-term connection loosening.
This shunt modification’s jumper cross-section and auxiliary bar terminal count are customized based on measured neutral current and the number of conductors to be transferred. A deposit is required before work, covering the procurement of the auxiliary bar, jumper cable, and fixing accessories, with the amount estimated based on the number of bars to be added and accessory grades. After full modification and current distribution verification, the final balance is based on the actual number of new bars, jumper length, and installation hours.
