Description
This package targets isolation switches, load-break switches, and various manual operating devices inside distribution boards where silver-alloy or copper-alloy contacts have developed oxide or sulfide films from prolonged exposure, leading to increased contact resistance, abnormal temperature rise, or sticking during operation. We start by fully de-energizing the switch and releasing its operating mechanism, then use dedicated contact cleaning strips or fine-grit fiberglass brushes to manually polish each pair of moving and fixed contacts until base metal is exposed. A vacuum cleaner is used simultaneously to remove debris, preventing particles from entering the mechanism or falling onto adjacent components.
After oxide removal, we apply a thin layer of electrical contact lubricating grease specifically designed for contacts, which slows re-oxidation and reduces mechanical wear during closing. After cleaning and lubrication, we perform at least five no-load open/close cycles to feel the handle movement uniformity and smoothness, then measure the closed contact resistance to confirm significant reduction compared to pre-cleaning values. All operations are performed without altering the switch’s internal mechanical parameters.
This maintenance’s contact treatment method and grease selection are customized according to switch model, contact material, and actual operating frequency. A deposit is required at booking, covering the cost of bringing cleaning tools and specialized grease to site, with the amount estimated based on the total number of switches and contact pairs. After full cleaning and contact resistance spot-check verification, the final balance is based on the actual number of switches processed and test samples.
